Art test

Did an art test recently and the task was to design 2 characters from specific genres and render them in 2 distinct styles, do an anime treatment and also a modelsheet. Here's what I did.

A is for Apocalypse

I want to do a theme for my warm up exercises so I'm going through the alphabet doing a Marvel character each day. So obviously today is the letter A.

Caught the WWE Hall of Fame induction and The Road Warriors were featured. Watching those old footage brought back old memories. Hearing their intro still gave me goose bumps. Favorite tag team of all time. Gotta do a warm up piece with it. Still kinda upset that they lost to Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. I haven't watched wrestling like I used to all my favorites are not there anymore and they don't have great tag teams like they used to. RIP Hawk.

Black Cat colors

Here's the Black Cat print for Wondercon. Would've been done a lot sooner but I had to deal with some computer problems that made me seriously considering switching to a Mac. I finished it though so ultimately that's all that matters. I kinda liked how it turned out so hopefully people like it too.

It's done. Had to get away from it for a couple of days so I can have a better idea on how to make some adjustments.

This piece is taking longer than I planned for... some more minor adjustments and I'll but this to bed.

Deadpool WIP

Here's a piece that I'm currently working on. I wanted to do an homage to my favorite poster, the Super Fly  movie poster. I had originally planned it as a Rick Ross piece since that damn aston martin music keeps playin in my head but Wondercon is comin up and I have to be efficient with my time. I thought about how I can incorporate the work I had already done and the only real solution was to put Deadpool in it.

Messing around with some speed painting in Photoshop. Inspired by Once Upon A Time In The West, for those who love westerns you gotta check it out.

Baseball warmup

I like observing the pitching motion and I want to work on incorporating more fluidity to my drawings. I find that drawing things in motion helps.

The Baroness

Here's another print for Wondercon. My original idea was to do something different with the Baroness so I had her hair up but since the pose obscures the Cobra insignia she won't be easily recognized.

Living in America

The Master of Disaster. Warm up to get the day started. I showed it to a friend and he said that it was kinda sad... I asked if he didn't like it... he replied it's not that, well you know what happens afterwards right? Those who've seen Rocky IV know what I'm talkin about.

Here's a print I'm working on for Wondercon. Just wanted to do something playful with the pose with a little bit of naughty thrown in.

Warmup drawings

Ideally before you start any physical activity you would warm up. Same goes with drawing. It helps loosen you up and get those bad drawings out of your system. The first drawing of the day is always kinda crappy so I get it out of the way. Mostly I just concentrate on gestures, trying to get the spirit of the pose.
